I feel a kindred spirit with Belgian designers - fashion, interiors and even flowers. Pictures of interior designers, Axel and Boris Vervoordt's and other interior designers that have been inspired by their work have been pulled from my magazines for years, only to find me returning to them time and time again. I guess that is it, their interiors are timeless because they decorate with treasures that are made over time. I love their use of beautiful, rich, weathered earthy tones and textures, surfaces that are tactile and warm. Axel finds nature amazing and is inspired by it.... comparing a beautiful stone to a Brancusi sculpture. One of his pronouncements, "there are no rules to what we do - it comes from the heart" is a lesson for all of us to adhere to when we decorate our own spaces.
