I just read that Oscar de la Renta has died at age 82. I've had the above picture of him, in his home, for quite some time and have come across it often. I think it shows his discernment for all things beautiful.
He dressed first ladies Jacqueline Kennedy, Nancy Reagan, Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush as well as Princess Diana. He was Sarah Jessica Parker's (and Carrie Bradshaw's) favourite designer and most recently he designed the wedding gown for Amal Clooney.
Mr. de la Renta studied under Cristobal Balenciaga in Spain and Balmain and Lanvin in Paris, before establishing his own label in 1965. His clothes, like the man, were elegant and classic.
