While researching my piece on the Dior earrings, I got an unexpected invitation for a private tour of the new Dior boutique in Sydney and while Peter Marino didn't personally renovate the Dior showroom, its interior was taken from his research on Mr. Dior and his boutique in Paris. Everything in the boutique has a personal reference to Christian Dior - from the rose filled vases, the panelled walls, the fireplace, carpet, photos, the shooting star ceiling lights and the grand staircase.
I was told that Mr. Dior was extremely superstituous and when he found a star on the ground, it became his talisman and because he so believed in lucky charms, his handbags are adorned with them. He also loved gardening and the rose was his favourite flower, therefore, vases of roses fill every Dior boutique.
Raf Simons his now the head designer for Dior and from what I have seen so far, we can expect some beautiful, elegant and timeless couture.
